Baseline is a type-first Shopify theme, and its sneaker store demo makes the case without a single hero photo. The homepage opens on a wall of huge neo-grotesk type listing every collection, Shop All, New Arrivals, Air Jordan, New Balance, and more, each with a small superscript product count and long rules between them. It reads like a magazine contents page and doubles as the main navigation. A free shipping marquee runs along the top, and the header spreads Shop, Blog, About, Search, and Cart evenly across the width.
Switch carries the same grid discipline through the rest of the page. Latest Arrivals is a carousel of products in thin-ruled cells, with the name on the left, the price on the right, and a small Limited badge where it applies. A big About Us statement follows, then a product table with a thumbnail, name, style code, brand, and a plus button on each row, which suits collectors who know exactly what they want. Two marquees of product names with tiny shoe icons lead into split Shop Nike Dunk and Shop Air Jordan image tiles. The product page pairs a large shoe shot with an oversized title, colorways shown as small product thumbnails, sizes as a simple row of numbers, a bright green Buy It Now button, and a spec table for model, style, and year.
On a phone, the collection list still works as the hero, and a green Fresh Kicks Dropping In marquee sits above a countdown to the next drop.
We'd pick Baseline for sneaker, streetwear, and collectibles stores with a clear set of collections. The typographic hero only stays tidy with short collection names, so a catalog with dozens of long category names would need a different opening.
