11 Best Shopify Themes for Food and Drink Brands (2026)

17 Shopify themes in our library carry the Food and Drink tag. We read every written review, set aside the herbal apothecary, added one drinks theme the tag missed, and ranked the 11 that are truly built to sell food and drink online.
Food and drink shoppers decide with their appetite first and their questions second. They want to see the jar on the toast, the can on ice or the bag of beans on the shelf, and a moment later they want the flavors, the pack sizes, the ingredients and whether a bundle saves them money. A general store theme can look tidy, but it won't have flavor pickers, a grind selector, a build-a-box block or allergen icons.
Tags don't sort that out. Seventeen Shopify themes in our library carry the Food and Drink tag, and 11 of them have a written review. One of those, Tincture, is an herbal apothecary rather than a food store, so we left it out. One theme the tag missed, Bloop, is shown as a functional drinks brand, so we added it. That gives 11 themes built to sell food and drink, ranked below with who each one suits and what to change before you launch.
Every score comes from our multi-reviewer process: designers and developers with 10 or more years of experience score each template independently, and we publish the average. You can browse the full tag on our Shopify food and drink themes page.

What Should a Shopify Food Theme Include?
A Shopify food theme needs big, appetizing product photography, product pages that handle flavors and pack sizes, and a fast path to bundles, since food shoppers often buy several items at once. It also needs room for ingredients and allergens near the Add to Cart button, a section for recipes or brand story, and a way to show subscriptions or delivery if you offer them.
The details that set a food theme apart are specific. Look for flavor choices shown as product thumbnails (Bloop), grind and size options as simple lists (Press), allergen icons and a nutrition scale (Local), a build-your-own box (Flow), and a featured product block that lets shoppers add an item without leaving the homepage (Refuel, Taste and Zap). Recipe sections appear in Candy, Shapes, Bloop and Local.

The 11 Best Shopify Themes for Food and Drink Brands
Ranked by Overall Score, highest first. Each name links to its review page, where hovering over the template card plays a screen recording of the full homepage on a loop.
Candy

Design: 9.6/10
Dev: 9.3/10
Price: $420
Best for: chocolate, candy and snack brands with colorful packaging and a playful tone
Candy has the highest Design Score on this list. Switch's demo opens on chocolate bar wrappers against bright blue, then rotates through lime, mint, lavender and pink blocks with thick black borders and hand-drawn squiggle dividers. The homepage packs in a product carousel, a comparison table, bundles, a testimonial slider and a recipe blog, and product cards carry flavor tags and sold-out badges. On a phone the grid drops to one column and the squiggles survive intact.
Worth knowing: the design assumes loud packaging. Plain product shots on white will look lost against these backgrounds.
Press

Design: 9.3/10
Dev: 9.6/10
Price: $420
Best for: coffee roasters, tea shops and small food brands with one confident brand color
Press is the coffee pick, and its Dev Score of 9.6/10 is the highest on this list. Everything is drawn in one red-orange on white, with Space Mono for the interface and a tall condensed serif for headings, so the store reads like a printed price list. Our favorite detail is a full coffee list laid out as a table, with origin and brew type on each row and a plus button to add it. Size and grind choices run from beans to Aeropress as simple radio lists.
Worth knowing: that single color carries the whole design, and the monospace body text tires the eye in long descriptions, so keep them short.
Snacks

Design: 9.3/10
Dev: 9.5/10
Price: $260
Best for: spread, snack and packaged goods brands that want to tell stories around their products
Snacks is the cheapest of the top four, at $260, and it gives editorial content real weight. The hero sets "New crush: hazelnut" in bold white type over a product photo, followed by a bright orange best-seller block and photos of jars and spreads on toast. The menu sorts products two ways, by playful range names and by ingredient or format, and the blog shows article cards with dates. Product pages add tabbed sections for description and shipping.
Worth knowing: the energy comes from lifestyle photography. Budget for a shoot, not just packshots.
Refuel

Design: 9.3/10
Dev: 9.4/10
Price: $320
Best for: protein bar, snack and supplement brands with a handful of flavors
Refuel is a preset of Zap, set up for a protein bar brand in cobalt blue and cream with chunky uppercase headlines. The homepage moves from a product carousel through a benefits row, a wall of social-style clips, a comparison band and a blog row. The featured product block is the standout: shoppers can add a bar to the cart without leaving the homepage. Product pages show a live stock count beside the quantity stepper.
Worth knowing: the comparison circles and sugar claims are demo copy. Rewrite them with numbers you can back up for your own product.
Bloop

Design: 9.2/10
Dev: 9.3/10
Price: $380
Best for: canned and bottled drink brands that sell on personality
Bloop doesn't carry the Food and Drink tag in our library, but Staylime's demo is a functional drinks brand through and through. The hero mixes a chunky grotesque with a high-contrast serif in a red-to-orange blend, above a bento grid of rounded photo tiles for cocktails, ingredients and energy. Product pages show flavors as little can thumbnails, plus size buttons and a stock bar, and an announcement bar can count down to a flavor launch. A recipes section rounds out the homepage.
Worth knowing: it fires a promo popup on load, a bundle signup a few scrolls later and a pinned bundle tab. Keep one of the three.
Shapes

Design: 8.8/10
Dev: 9.3/10
Price: $420
Best for: hot sauce, spice and pantry brands with playful packaging
Shapes' pantry preset is the loudest theme here: a fire-engine red hero, the store name in enormous black capitals and stickers reading Full of Flavour and Hot Stuff. Tabs for Hot Sauces, Spices and Rubs, and Oils sit over product cards with thick black outlines, and every section ends in a wavy edge. Product pages go further than most, with Ingredients, Shipping and Wholesale tabs and dot scales for flavor. The header also has room for a Restaurant page and Recipes.
Worth knowing: a quiet brand will feel shouted over, and the quote band credits a famous fictional chef, so swap in a real customer.
Zap

Design: 8.7/10
Dev: 9.1/10
Price: $320
Best for: drinks brands with one hero product and a sense of humor
Zap is the original theme behind Refuel, shown here as a cold brew brand in lemon yellow, black and white. The hero sets "Super Cold" in enormous letters behind a tilted can, and the header is a floating black capsule with just a menu, wordmark and cart. Product cards give each flavor a one-sentence description, and a split section lists benefits beside a photo of a can pouring into a glass. Customer quote cards link straight to the products they mention.
Worth knowing: on a phone, the can covers most of the hero headline. Check your own hero image at phone size, and replace the sample reviewer names before launch.
Local

Design: 8.0/10
Dev: 8.9/10
Price: $380
Best for: grocers, delis, bakeries and food co-ops that offer pickup and delivery
Local is the only grocery theme in our picks, and it's built for a store with many products rather than a brand with a few. The header has a wide search bar plus Picking up and Need delivery selectors, and the homepage shops by category and by diet, such as Vegan, Keto and Paleo. Product pages show allergen icons, a colored A to E nutrition scale and a store picker for local stock. An Upcoming events list with Register buttons suits shops that run tastings or classes.
Worth knowing: the homepage is very long, so remove the blocks you won't keep stocked.
Flow

Design: 7.1/10
Dev: 8.0/10
Price: $320
Best for: juice, smoothie, meal kit and supplement brands that sell sets or weekly boxes
Flow's Nourish demo sells cold-pressed smoothies by subscription, against a moody hero of green juice and dark leaves. Its strength is bundles: Find Your Blend and Build Your Week Box sections lead to an Add Set to Cart button, and it's the only theme here with a build-a-box section in its demo. Badges like Bestseller and Preorder sit on product cards, and product pages offer size boxes from 250 to 500ml. At 7.6/10 overall, it's good with real limitations.
Worth knowing: the trust line under the hero quotes demo figures, and a bar slides up on phones on first visit. Replace the first and decide on the second.
Taste

Design: 6.8/10
Dev: 7.4/10
Price: Free
Best for: juice bars, tea sellers and small snack brands on a budget
Taste is one of Shopify's own free themes, made for food and drink brands. The demo sells juices and kombucha in a thin black frame, with a typewriter-style monospace for supporting text that makes the store feel like a printed label. Collection cards sit on pastel peach, lilac and sky, and a featured product block shows pill-shaped size options right on the homepage. At 7.1/10 overall, it's good with real limitations, and the best free start on this list.
Worth knowing: it needs photos on bright, flat backgrounds, and the demo product text points to a real juice company, so remove it.
Savor

Design: 6.7/10
Dev: 7.3/10
Price: Free
Best for: sauce makers, roasters and small food labels with clean packaging photos
Savor is Shopify's other free food theme, built for a short product line. The demo sells barbecue sauces with a punchy red studio hero, then a product grid where each bottle sits in its own grey panel with a one-line description. A split story block pairs a family video with a short brand story, which suits founder-led food labels. Product pages offer boxed pack size options and a quantity stepper.
Worth knowing: there's little beyond the grid and story, so plan to add sections for reviews or recipes, and remove the demo note pointing to a real sauce brand.
Why 11, and How We Chose Them
We started with the 17 Shopify themes tagged Food and Drink in our library. Six have no written review yet, so we left them out: we only recommend themes we've described in full. Of the 11 with a review, Tincture is an herbal wellness apothecary, so it doesn't belong in a food list. Bloop has no Food and Drink tag, but its demo is a drinks brand with flavor pickers and recipes, so it went in.
That left 11 true fits, ranked by Overall Score, the average of the Design Score and the Dev Score. Every template in our library scores 7.0 or above. The full process is on our methodology page.
What Should You Change Before Launching a Food Store?
Four fixes come up across these demos. Check every health and nutrition claim, since Refuel, Zap and Flow all ship with sugar, protein or trust figures that belong to the demo brand. Replace sample names, quotes and handles in Shapes, Zap and Refuel. Remove product text that points to real brands, as in Taste and Savor. And cut popups down to one, as Bloop shows three ways to collect an email.
Then plan your photography. Every theme here is built around strong product shots, from Candy's colorful wrappers to Local's produce on light backgrounds, and none of them looks like its demo with plain photos taken on a phone. Our guide to changing and customizing a Shopify theme covers the editing steps.
